Oakland’s Sean Gallagher should’ve known better. He threw a first-pitch fastball to Cubs leadoff man Alfonso Soriano in the first inning, and Soriano launched it over the right field fence Tuesday for his first spring home run.
“As soon as the pitch left my hand I was like, he’s swinging,” Gallagher said. “It’s either at the fence or it is over. I’ve watched the guy play for a long time and I understand his swing.”
That was the only run Gallagher gave up in his two innings vs. the Cubs.
