Tuesday quick hits

Here’s Tuesday’s lineup vs. the Athletics: LF Alfonso Soriano, SS Ryan Theriot, 3B Aramis Ramirez, 1B Jake Fox, RF Richie Robnett, CF Reed Johnson, C Paul Bako, 2B Andres Blanco, P Sean Marshall.

Marshall is expected to go three innings in his second Cactus League start. Also, Luis Vizcaino and Andrew Cashner are scheduled to make their first appearances this spring.

Other news and notes:

  • Rich Harden threw to hitters for the second time in a batting practice session. He could get in a game this weekend if he continues to make progress.
  • Lou Piniella plans on rotating his outfielders quite a bit. If today was Opening Day and the Astros were starting a right-handed pitcher, Kosuke Fukudome would start in center. Reed Johnson will get his share of starts there, too.
  • Piniella has finished one book by former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy and was halfway into another. “I think it’s wise and smart to pick people’s brains and learn from people who have had success,” Piniella said. “Obviously, they’re doing some things right. To get some ideas you can incorporate in the scheme of things is a prudent thing to do. When I’m done managing, I’ll write a book, and then I can fade into the sunset.”

Great Blog Carrie, I have a question.
Kyle Farnsworth was well known to be a total blockhead, can Ed give us a list of really dumb Cubs?
