Manager for a day

Triple-A Iowa manager Bobby Dickerson handled the manager duties on Wednesday in Goodyear for the Cubs’ split squad game against the Indians. Lou Piniella and most of his staff went to Las Vegas for a quick two-game series against the White Sox.

Pitching coach Larry Rothschild will have a long day. He was at HoHoKam Park in Mesa Wednesday morning to watch a couple pitchers throw side sessions, then went to Goodyear for the game, and was to catch a flight to Vegas to join the rest of the team.
