Friday quick hits
The Cubs coaches were puzzled at the Dodgers’ lineup for Friday. Pitcher Randy Wolf will bat second. Not even St. Louis’ Tony La Russa has tried that. The Dodgers wanted to use the designated hitter on Friday, but the Cubs didn’t, so Wolf will get some extra at-bats this way.
For the Cubs, it’ll be 3B Aaron Miles, SS Ryan Theriot, 1B Derrek Lee, RF Milton Bradley, LF Micah Hoffpauir, 2B Bobby Scales, C Koyie Hill, CF Joey Gathright and P Ryan Dempster.
Other notes from Friday:
- Rich Harden threw 43 pitches in a simulated game and could make his first Cactus League start on Tuesday vs. Seattle.
- Bradley was in the lineup for the third time this spring and will likely be on an every other day schedule. He also can be used as the designated hitter against American League teams.
- No roster cuts are expected until next weekend. There really is no place to send anyone. The Minor League teams have yet to start.
