Hot air
Most of the Cubs will take advantage of Wednesday’s off day and be on one of the zillion golf courses in the Phoenix area. Lou Piniella’s wife, Anita, has other plans. Piniella says he’s either going to take a helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon, then ride in a raft down the Snake River, or he’ll go for a hot air balloon ride. He’s leaning toward the balloon.
“As long as they get me down before Juarez [Mexico], it’s OK,” he said.
He wasn’t 100 percent convinced this was a good way to spend an off day.
“If I think about it all day, I might chicken out,” he said.
