Balls and strikes

Cubs pitching coach Larry Rothschild was ejected from Friday’s split-squad game in Tempe by home plate umpire Kerwin Danley. When Lou Piniella was told that Chad Gaudin had walked four in 1 2/3 innings, he quipped: “That probably didn’t make Larry feel too good.”

The Cubs were also playing the Seattle Mariners at HoHoKam Stadium on Friday.

“I told [assistant general manager] Randy Bush, ‘Let’s get [Rothschild] over here and he can get kicked out of this one, and we’ll set a Cactus League record’ — two in one day,” Piniella said.

Lou is so funny, get Larry run twice in one day. Larry was probably in a hurry to meet up with Hendry at the all u can eat buffet over at Shakey’s, love dem mojo potatoes.

Gaudin couldn’t throw strikes? Where is Rich Hill when you need him.

We never should have traded Cal Ripken to the Orioles, it opened up this whole mess of trading Sammy Sosa, Korey Patterson, Felix Pie, Rich Hill……..who’s next Kerry Wood.
