No. 31 – it's official
The Cubs will retire No. 31 in honor of Hall of Fame pitcher Fergie Jenkins and future Hall of Famer Greg Maddux on May 3 at Wrigley Field. It’ll be the fifth number retired by the Cubs, and join No. 14 (Ernie Banks), No. 26 (Billy Williams), No. 10 (Ron Santo) and No. 23 (Ryne Sandberg). Additionally, No. 42 is retired throughout MLB in honor or Jackie Robinson.
