4/7 Lineup
Reed Johnson gets his first start Tuesday. The Astros are starting lefty Wandy Rodriguez but Lou Piniella didn’t make many tweaks in the Cubs lineup. Ryan Theriot will bat second behind LF Alfonso Soriano, then 1B Derrek Lee, RF Milton Bradley, 3B Aramis Ramirez, CF Johnson, C Geovany Soto, 2B Mike Fontenot and P Ryan Dempster. Fontenot hit .333 against lefties last year and had three hits on Monday in the 4-2 win over the Astros.

One thing about Mike Fontenot: he’s a gamer that you can win with. Personally, I have absolutely no problem putting a left-handed hitter who also happens to hit .300 against lefties in the lineup. I don’t think anyone does, especially Lou.

One thing about Mike Fontenot that you can count on: the kid’s a gamer you can win with. I don’t think there are too many managers who, like Lou, would sit a guy who happens to hit .300 against lefties. Fontenot’s a winner who’s finally getting his long-overdue shot.
