6/9 Lineup & quick hits
Milton Bradley convinced Lou Piniella he was ready to play, and was in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Astros. The lineup is LF Soriano, SS Theriot, CF Fukudome, 1B Lee, RF Bradley, 3B Fontenot, C Soto, 2B Blanco, P Lilly.
Bradley has been sidelined with a sore calf, and took early batting practice on Tuesday and told Piniella he was ready to go. Micah Hoffpauir had originally been in the lineup vs. Houston’s Brian Moehler.
* Aaron Miles (shoulder) joined the Cubs Tuesday, and was expected to be activated from the DL on Wednesday. Miles rehabbed at Triple-A Iowa, playing two games at second, one at third.
* Rich Harden (back) threw 70 pitches in his rehab start on Sunday and was expected to be activated Saturday to start against the Twins. He should be able to go five innings and throw 85 pitches. He did maintain his velocity in his outing and threw strikes, and didn’t feel any discomfort in his back.
* Aramis Ramirez (shoulder) took some swings in the batting cage on Tuesday with a fungo bat, and could begin taking grounders at third on Wednesday. If Ramirez continues to progress, he could start hitting balls off a batting tee next week.

I’m itching to see how things work out with the Ram back in the lineup. Can we build a team around Ramirez, Theriot, Johnson, Lilly, and Dempster? Well, maybe if we still had DeRosa…and if Lou chooses to play Hoff-power
DeRosa.
