All-Stars

On Sunday, the Cubs honored three people who were selected in the “All-Stars Among Us” campaign. Three community-minded finalists per Major League team were picked out of thousands of nominees. One per Major League team will be sent to St. Louis and honored at Busch Stadium during the All-Star Game. Visit Peopleallstars.com to vote.

The three with Cubs connections include Ryan Lambert, who grew up in Montgomery, Ill., and lists Ryne Sandberg was his favorite player. “To this day, I continue to strongly support them and am on the edge of my seat waiting for the day they win the World Series as many other fans do the same,” he said.

A student at Central Michigan University, Ryan developed his own philanthropy, “Chip Away Malaria.” His group has raised more than $30,000 to purchase insecticide-treated bed nets for families in Africa. The nets prevent mosquito bites that cause malaria.
