6/16 Fox to Cubs; Waddell on DL

The Cubs have recalled Jake Fox and placed Jason Waddell on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 13. Waddell was sidelined for evaluation and treatment of a non-baseball related medical issue. This will be Fox’s second stint with the team. He was 5-for-12 with two doubles in eight games. Waddell has a 5.40 ERA in three games, and last pitched on June 12. The move also trims the Cubs roster to 12 pitchers.

Good move! I would like to see him get more play. Left him have a go at 3B

Yeah I agree orangemax! Great move for the team and let the man have a shot at 3rd. Put Fontenot back at 2nd and sit Miles because he is way overrated. I believe he will make some errors just as everyone else thinks, but he will make up for it with his bat. Fox has what Len Casper says “SICK POWER”

He needs enough at bats to prove he is ready for the majors for two reasons: 1) so he can be in the Cubs lineup regardless of his improving defense and 2) so that he has trade value if the Cubs decide there isn’t enough room for him. I have always thought he was overated but let me be the first person to say, Fox please prove me wrong because we need a power bat.

When it said Fox activated I thought they meant Chad Fox from the DL. Shouldn’t it be called up Fox. I was thinking what in the world is Hendry doing activating this guy for the roster. Good move. Now Lou should play him in LF or try him at 3B although I’m not certain that would be a good move at this point (3B). Soriano needs a rest and maybe more than one or two days. I wish Lou would quit stroking his ego and stoke a fire up under him by putting someone else in his spot for a while. At least move him down to 5th or 6th in the order.

Fox deserves a chance to show he’s a for real MLB Hitter.. Plus the Cubs need the bat. Show Soriano he’s no better then anyone else by sitting him… ANYONE not even hitting his weight the last 30 days and strikes out 1 out of 4 times at bat, warrants some serious attitude adjustment time on the bench… even if he’s one of those $100 million MLB players.

If Fox hits… Play him at 3rd.

FYI… Go all Offense and put Soriano at 2nd and Hoffpauir in LF… If the Cubs can score 5-6-7 runs early in the game…. who cares about the errors.

Given the Cub’s hitting slump, I’d agree with the notion of playing Fox at 3b until Ramirez is back and as long as Fox keeps hitting. A few errors would be a small price to pay for a hot bat in the lineup. I’d also agree with moving Fontenot back to 2b and sitting Miles who’s been pretty useless. I hope that Von Joshua can do something to get the Cub hitters out of their collective slump. The only encouraging thing offensively is that Lee is showing signs of remembering how to hit.
