What will Lou do?

It’s impossible to expect hitting coach Von Joshua to turn things around after one BP session. Lou Piniella says he’s mulling changes in the Cubs lineup in an attempt to get the offense going. The team now is collectively hitting .244.

“We’re in a slump and we haven’t got out of it,” Derrek Lee said. “We have to keep swinging and I think that’s the best way to get out of it.”

He’s trying to stay positive.

“I’m not going to say we’re not going to come out of it,” Lee said. “We’re not trying to make you believe. We’re going to keep going out there and playing as hard as we can. That’s all we can do. We have a game tomorrow. We have to stay positive and be ready for tomorrow.”

Will Piniella drop Alfonso Soriano from the leadoff spot? Soriano’s on-base percentage is .291. Can Ryan Theriot leadoff? His OBP is .341. Milton Bradley’s has six multi-hit games this year, including two in his last four games. Stay tuned.

Once again, today we missed scoring opportunities. There were not many, but since we can’t seem to out it over the fence, maybe Lou needs to manage like he’s only going to get one run.

Like the time Theriot was on third. Now, maybe because this was new to him, he wasn’t sure he could make it on a soft fly. Ok, fine. This is what I’m talking about. I’m guessing Lou should have bunted Lee because it might have been a higher percentage execution than waiting for anyone to actually drive him in.

Cubs are not a station to station team this year. I’m not a Sox fan, but Ozzie did a great job today. oh… and his team executed nicely. And tomorrow’s another day.

I agree, Ozzie did a great job, I won’t annoint him the next Casey Stengel but he does know the capabilities of his players and manages accordingly. I still think Lou is a good manager but is facing some unchartered territorry with his players. The Hendry regime has really did this manager, team and fans no favors by loading up on postion players that are clogging up the system with huge contracts that are preventing the advancement of players that can do more than swing for the fences. I would love to see Lou say the hell with everything and bench Soriano, Fukodome, Bradley and Soto for a lengthy period and going with his bench or even another call up or two and see what what happens, if just for the sake of something different. After all that is what Hendry did by firing Perry, just something different with no REAL REASON….Please for the love of all that’s Cubdom….get Hendry out of town. DeRosa!

I never thought chemistry in baseball was such a big deal until this season. I know this tree has been beat to death but the to get more left handed has been over rated. CIs it safe to say Mark DeRosa around here. Well, I’ll say it the numbers speak for themselves. He proves time and time again he can carry a slumping squad. Lefthanded? This team is bad! The lineup has to many holes. No power protection. Just a bunch of spray hitters that can’t run. The Cubs also made there annual evaluation mistake. They wanted Todd Hollinsworth to be an everyday player. BUST! Now Mike Fontenot. great bench guy! Not an everyday player. Can we please scrap this season go back to December. I would take Adam Dunns poor defense knowing at any moment he can change the outcome of any game everytime he steps to the plate. Over no show Bradley. Apologize to my man DeRosa. Get him back in here! That solves your problems. He was the heart and soul of the offense. Believe that!
