Josh Vitters wasn’t the only Cubs Minor Leaguer promoted. Andrew Casher, the 2008 first-round pick, who compiled a 1.50 ERA in 12 starts at Daytona, was moved up to Double-A Tennessee. Cashner struck out 34 over 42 innings. Also, Chris Carpenter, a third-round pick in the 2008 Draft, was bumped up from Peoria to Daytona. Carpenter was 4-3 with a 2.44 ERA in 15 starts, and struck out 60 over 73 2/3 innings.

Vitters, the No. 1 pick in 2007, was promoted to Daytona. The third baseman was batting .316 with 12 doubles, 15 homers and 46 RBIs at Peoria.
