7/1 Ramirez update
Aramis Ramirez will be back in the Cubs lineup on Monday if his upcoming rehab goes well. The third baseman will play for the Class A Peoria Chiefs, starting Friday in Kane County. Ramirez will play Saturday and Sunday in Peoria, and was then expected to be activated from the disabled list on Monday for the Cubs’ game against the Atlanta Braves at Wrigley Field. He’s been sidelined since dislocating his left shoulder May 8.
The Cubs were 2 1/2 games back when Ramirez was hurt. Starting play today, they’re 4 1/2 games out of first, trailing the Brewers, who come to town Thursday.
“It’s not like I’m going to jump in and all of a sudden we’re going to win every game,” Ramirez told the Chicago Tribune.
