7/6 Freel trade

The Cubs traded infielder Ryan Freel to the Kansas City Royals on Monday for a player to be named later. Freel was designated for assignment by the Cubs on July 2.  In 14 games with Chicago, Freel batted .143 (4-for-28) with one run scored and one RBI. The Cubs originally acquired Freel from Baltimore for outfielder Joey Gathright on May 8.

If this doesn’t prove that Hendry is just making deals in order to look busy for the new owners, I don’t know what does. How could anybody think that you would NEED to acquire Freel in order to use him as leverage in a trade with Kansas City of all teams, isn’t that the team Gathright was on? Is Hendry just part of a club of confused GM’s???
What a waste of time all his “tweaking” is. A great way to acheive stability in the clubhouse, showing players that out of anywhere will come yet another KEY player from the mind of Hendry…the latest being Jeff “waste a roster spot” baker.
Unbelievable. DeRosa!!
