7/18 Cubs sign No. 2 pick

The Cubs added another LSU Tiger to the team. On Saturday, the Cubs announced they have signed second-round pick DJ LeMahieu, an infielder who helped lead LSU to the 2009 College World Series championship. LeMahieu will join the Mesa Rookie team, and, when ready, move up to Class A Boise. A right-handed hitter, LeMahieu batted .350 with 57 runs, 13 doubles, four triples, five homers and 43 RBIs in his sophomore year for the Tigers. He led the team in batting average and hits.

Being a CUB fan from Madison,Wi and watching DJ play little league i new he was headed toward fame and what could be better then landing on the team his father Tom also loves.Great pickup for the CUBS.Now i have home movies of a future CUB allstar.

DJ actually played 2B in the CWS, but he has the body of ****. He looks like he has a nice frame, and may fill out in the next few years. For a Round #2 pick, he seem to fill a need…and he also comes from the right school to be a Cub !

As an ex-Auroran who has been living in south Louisiana for a long time and a Cub fan forever.I believe the Cub organization found themselves a good athlete. LSU has surpassed Notre Dame and Illinois as my sports team of preference. Geaux Tigers. J.Exell

I am really excited to see what this guy can do! I watched him at the CWS, and he will be a force to be reckoned with once he hits the pros. Plus, he’s another Cub from LSU. That seems to be a popular (and worthwhile) trend for us so far!

I live in Omaha and watched DJ and the Tigers tear through the CWS this year. Not only did he get big hits in key situations but he also made some fantastic defensive plays going both left and right.
