7/24 LIneup & Dempster update
The Cubs’ lineup Friday vs. the Reds will be: CF Fukudome, SS Theriot, 1B Lee, 3B Ramirez, RF Bradley, LF Soriano, 2B Fontenot, C Hill and P Wells.
* Ryan Dempster got good news from the X-ray of his broken right toe and wants to pitch Sunday, but the Cubs are taking what Lou Piniella called a “prudent” approach and will insert the right-hander into the rotation next Wednesday.
That means the rotation will be Ted Lilly on Saturday, Kevin Hart on Sunday, Rich Harden on Monday night, Carlos Zambrano Tuesday, Dempster on Wednesday, and then Lilly next Thursday. Wells will open the series in Florida.
