8/1 Ramirez injured

Aramis Ramirez had to leave Saturday’s game in the ninth inning after he was hit by a pitch on his left side. Ramirez, who had just returned from the DL July 6, originally stayed in the game after getting plunked by Florida’s Leo Nunez. But he had moved up to second on a sacrifice, and then walked over to the Cubs dugout and signaled to the athletic trainers. He had to be helped off the field.

In the bottom of the 10th, Alfonso Soriano went into the game at second base, pinch-runner Sam Fuld went to left, and Jeff Baker moved from second to third.

This has been a night from hell.

Please tell me Aramis left because of fatigue and dehydration rather than the injury. This could end up being the night that defines the rest of our season.
