9/3 Disappointment
Lou Piniella was asked prior to Thursday’s game about whether this season is a disappointment.
“I don’t use the word ‘disappointment,’” Piniella said. “I don’t view it that way. We expected better, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t. We’ve had a lot of injuries here. I said coming out of Spring Training many times that we didn’t have the depth to handle too many adversities from an injury standpoint, and we’ve had our share.
“Also, we’ve struggled scoring runs,” he said. “When you’re on a pace to score 150, 160 runs less than the year before, that makes it hard, too. Disappointment? No. These guys are giving me effort and playing as well as they can. Nobody’s giving up, everybody’s hustling. Even guys who aren’t swinging the bats well are making good plays with the glove. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t.”

Lou Piniella said, “Nobody’s giving up, everybody’s hustling.” He’s talking about the Bears. Right?
I like Lou Piniella fighting spirit, he just giving his team more inspiring words of wisdom. Well sports are really indefinable especially when you are in the game. Looking at your supporters who buy tickets with their fast cash is really giving you a hope to win the game or if not, giving your fans the best game to see. As what Lou told here, “These guys are giving me effort and playing as well as they can. Nobody’s giving up, everybody’s hustling. Even guys who aren’t swinging the bats well are making good plays with the glove. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t.” — And that is what we call true spirit of sportsmanship.
