9/7 Tennessee, Iowa end regular season
Double-A Tennessee ended the regular season Monday with a 5-4 win over Huntsville. Marco Carrillo (4-1) picked up the win in relief of starter Casey Coleman, who only threw three innings. Coleman is scheduled to start in Game 2 of the divisional playoffs.
The Smokies open the playoffs Thursday against Huntsville. Jeremy Papelbon (6-5) is scheduled to start for Tennessee against Huntsville’s Josh Butler (2-1).
* Iowa lost its season finale, 7-2, to Albuquerque, and finished the season, 72-72. Jeff Samardzija (6-6) took the loss, giving up five runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out five. Samardzija was expected to join the Major League team Tuesday.
This season, Iowa’s J.R. Mathes won 12 games in the Pacific Coast League, good for third best overall. He also ranked 10th in the league with a 3.62 ERA. Blake Parker’s 22 saves ranked fifth in the league. Despite being with the big league team since July 31, Sam Fuld ranked third in the PCL with 10 triples.

some of my early blog were about some of double a tenn smokies player this prove that there is some talent in the cubs minor league club and some of them are better than those in the major or triple A so some one please tell me why they have not been call up or move to triple A they can not be worser than what on the major league roster I FOR ONE WOULD LIKE TO SEE SOME OF THEM NOW OR GIVE THEM A CHANGE IN THE SPRING NEXT YEAR A TEAM FULL OF HOME RUN HITTER OR ALL OR NOTHING HITTER WILLNOT WIN A WORLD CHAMPION SHIP
