9/8 Samardzija joins Cubs
Jeff Samardzija joined the Cubs Tuesday in Pittsburgh. The right-hander closed Triple-A Iowa’s regular season Monday, taking the loss. He gave up five runs on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings, striking out five. For the season, Samardzija was 6-6 with a 4.35 ERA. The Iowa Cubs lost, 7-2, to Albuquerque, and ended the regular season, 72-72.
