9/14 Burke, Coleman get top honors
Outfielder Kyler Burke and pitcher Casey Coleman were named the Cubs’ Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively. Burke, 21, batted .303 with 43 doubles, three triples, 15 homers and 89 RBIs for Class A Peoria. Coleman, 22, who will start Game 3 of the Southern League championship, was 14-6 with a 3.68 ERA in 27 starts for Double-A Tennessee. He finished with a 3.68 ERA, and tied for the league lead in wins.
