9/14 Tennessee Smokies playoff update
The Double-A Tennessee Smokes will open the Southern League championship series against the Jacksonville Suns on Tuesday in Jacksonville. Games 1 and 2 will be played on the Suns’ home field, with Games 3-4-5 at Smokies Park, Friday through Sunday.
The Smokies projected rotation for the five games, if all are needed, will be: Chris Carpenter in Game 1 followed by Jeremy Papelbon in Game 2, then Casey Coleman, Andrew Cashner and Hung Wen-Chen.
The Smokies, under manager Ryne Sandberg, clinched the Southern League North Division championship 3-1 by beating Huntsville.
