9/27 Pitching matchups
If you’re looking ahead to the Cubs’ doubleheader against the Pirates on Wednesday at Wrigley Field, Ted Lilly will start the first game and Carlos Zambrano the second. However, that could change. Lou Piniella said if Big Z needs an extra day, they could slip Jeff Samardzija into the rotation for the night game.
As of now, the rotation for the final homestand will be: Ryan Dempster on Tuesday, Lilly and Zambrano on Wednesday; Tom Gorzelanny on Thursday; Samardzija on Friday; Randy Wells on Saturday and Dempster in the season finale on Sunday.
