11/4 Ted Lilly has arthroscopic surgery on shoulder

Cubs pitcher Ted Lilly underwent a left shoulder arthroscopy and debridement on Tuesday by noted orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Lewis Yocum in Los Angeles. During the surgery, Yocum found no major damage to Lilly’s shoulder and the procedure consisted of a washout and clean up of the shoulder. The procedure took approximately one hour to complete.

Lilly will immediately begin an aggressive range of motion and strengthening program. A timetable for a throwing program will be set when he’s re-examined after Jan. 1. Typically, recovery time for a procedure such as this would place Lilly’s return to the Cubs rotation within the month of April.

Carrie, I am a 70 y/o fan who lives in Valpataiso, IN. I have a friend who is in her 50’s with end stage lung disease. She is on continuous oxygen and is presently in the local hospital with another case of chronic pneumonia. She is a die hard Cubbie fan. Her bedroom is completely done in Cubs theme. My question for you is , How can I contact Ted Lilly? I would like to ask him to come to Valpo to visit Diane Adelman. Her dying wish is to get to Mesa for spring training and I, since I am a nurse, am planning on taking her there this spring. Hopefully, the airlines will allow her to fly with oxygen as I cannot take the time off work to drive her there. I wish I could. Please let me know if Ted would consider this. If not, she loves them all, especially Marmol, Zambrano, Dempster, Ramirez, Theriot, and Lee. Thanks for your time, Norma Ozelie at bessie39@comcast.net

Carrie, if you get something going for this person you could contact me as I would like to give her a special gift for her friend. I lost my die hard Cub fan Mom to cancer….and we are yet AGAIN hoping that another generation sees the Cubs in a World Series before I die….same story for a lot of families no doubt. I pray this coming spring training happens for them. Way to go Norma!!!
