Ted Lilly and wife Natasha welcomed their first child, Theodore Roosevelt Lilly IV, on Sunday. The newest T.R. Lilly checked in at 8 pounds 1 ounce on Sunday. The Cubs pitcher, who flew back to California to be with his wife, was expected to return to Arizona on Thursday.
The left-hander, who is rehabbing from arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder, has yet to face hitters but could be close.
“He wants to throw against hitters real soon,” Lou Piniella said Monday. “He’s ready to go so Larry [Rothschild] will put him on a nice little schedule.”
Lilly was not expected to be ready until mid April or May 1, and the Cubs hope he can get in a Cactus League game.
