3/16 Silva update
Carlos Silva had his best outing this spring. The Cubs right-hander served up two hits, did not walk a batter and struck out three over four innings against the Rangers at HoHoKam Park. He’s looked healthy and the adjustments suggested by pitching coach Larry Rothschild appear to be working.

If Larry Rothschild can figure out and help Silva what a boon to the Cubs staff he can be and a great reprieve for Hendry as well. Although I have bashed Hendry juuuuuuust a few times in the past…I hope for nothing short of a miraculaous season for Silva even if it means saving Hendry’s job! After all the Cubs success comes before any dissatisfaction I or any Cubs fan may with Hendry. Silva’s career era is around .400 I believe but if he can do a little better…Right?
As a Cubs and Twins fan from Minneapolis who has watched Carlos over the years, I pray he rebounds, but suggest that everyone not get too terribly excited just yet. Would love to see that old sinker return.
I hear ya’ meach, but us Cubs fans need to cling to something, any positive news that comes our way is just one more reason for hope. It’s not often that Hendry gets lucky with one of his abysmal deals so a little luck with Silva will go a long way.
