3/21 Silva leaves with tight quad
Carlos Silva was pulled after two innings Sunday because of a tight right quad. The Cubs starter retired the first five batters he faced and then gave up a home run to the Reds’ Laynce Nix on a 1-1 pitch. Silva threw three straight balls to Chris Heisey, and pitching coach Larry Rothschild went to the mound for a visit. Silva finished the inning, then went to the bullpen with athletic trainer Bob Grimes to throw a little more. The Cubs wanted Silva out of the game to avoid further injury.

I hope this injury is not a sign of things to come. Things look so good for the Cubs so far that injuries increase in importance. I can’t see anyone productively taking Silva’s place unless Marshall has a career year.
Let’s just hope that this injury cloud has a silva lining.
