4/1 Lou: "I like our team"

The Cubs wrap up the Mesa portion of their Cactus League schedule on Thursday when they face the Rockies. They’ll play two more games against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field Friday night and Saturday.

“I like our team,” Lou Piniella said. “I said that coming into Spring Training.”

The Cubs only had a couple setbacks this spring. They lost Angel Guzman for the season following arthroscopic shoulder surgery and Jeff Gray wasn’t able to throw full speed because of a sore groin.

The bullpen is young, there isn’t much speed. The Cubs do need to hit, Piniella said. The team has more options on the bench and more depth at the Minor Leagues, he said.
