4/20 Minor matters
Jay Jackson threw eight shutout innings, giving up two hits and striking out four, to help Triple-A Iowa beat Nashville, 4-0. Micah Hoffpauir and Jason Dubois each homered.
Andrew Cashner struck out five over seven innings, giving up two hits and one unearned run, but did not get a decision in Double-A Tennessee’s 2-1 win over Carolina. Starlin Castro had two hits, and has hit safely in six straight games. The Smokies are 9-2 and off to their best start since 2000.
Class A Daytona split a doubleheader with Dunedin, winning the first game, 4-2, and losing the nightcap by the same score. Rafael Dolis gave up two runs on four hits over five innings in the opener for the win. Brett Jackson went 4-for-7 in the two games, and had three RBIs. He’s batting .444 in his last nine games.
In case you missed it, Ted Lilly picked up the win for Class A Peoria, holding Burlington to three hits and one run over seven innings in the Chiefs’ 2-1 victory. Lilly struck out nine in his rehab start. Hak-Ju Lee has hit in six straight games and has four stolen bases.
