4/21 Looper throws for Cubs

The Cubs are looking at all options to help the bullpen and had scouts watch free agent pitcher Braden Looper. The right-hander was 14-7 in 34 starts for the Brewers last year with a 5.22 ERA and served up 39 homers in 194 2/3 innings. He has pitched for the Cardinals, Marlins, Mets and Brewers, compiling a 4.15 career ERA and 72-65 record. He was a closer from 2002-05. Looper did the tryout somewhere outside of Chicago and not at Wrigley Field. FoxSports first reported the Cubs’ interest.

I also read that on mlbtraderumors.com, they are also reporting some interesting thing should the Cubs become sellers and also who should go to the pen.

as far as who should go to the pen, that writer picked Dempster because he has experience as a reliever. All of the Cubs starters have pitched in relief at some point in their career. As for the selling item, it’s April 21. I think we should give this team 30 days and then evaluate. It’s early.

Agreed, see you in 30 days. By then I believe Castro will be our everyday SS, Colvin will be our everyday leftfielder, Theriot will be our everyday second baseman and God willing Soriano will be the everyday DH for the struggling BoSox!!!!
