5/1 Minor matters
Nick Struck threw five shutout innings for the seventh no-hitter in Peoria’s history in a 4-0, rain-shortened win over Clinton Friday night. Struck struck out five and walked one. He picked off the only runner who reached base.
J.R. Mathes gave up three runs on six hits over 6 1/3 innings in Iowa’s 3-1 loss to Omaha. Jim Adduci had a hit, nad has hit safely in six of his last seven games.
Chris Carpenter gave up one run on four hits over five innings in Tennessee’s 8-4 win over Chattanooga. Matt Spencer homered, Robinson Chirinos had his seventh multi-hit game and Tony Campana extended his hitting streak to 13 games.
Josh Vitters had four hits in Daytona’s 4-3 loss to Clearwater. Dae-Eun Rhee gave up four runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings. Brett Jackson reached base four times, going 3-for-4.
