5/3 Minor matters
Thomas Diamond gave up one run on four hits over 6 1/3 innings but it wasn’t enough as Iowa lost, 5-4, to Omaha on Sunday. Diamond now has a 1.65 ERA. Bryan LaHair homered and Darwin Barney had three hits. Brad Snyder drove in two runs and leads the team with 18 RBIs.
Starlin Castro, Tony Campana and Matt Spencer each had two hits in Tennessee’s 4-3 loss to Chattanooga. Hung-Wen Chen gave up three runs, two earned, on six hits over 5 1/3 innings. Castro recorded his 13th multi-hit game of the year and leads the team with 53 total bases.
Michael Brenly had three hits in Daytona’s 8-4 loss to Clearwater. Alberto Cabrera took the loss, giving up seven runs on 10 hits over four innings. Brett Jackson had two hits and leads the team with a .301 batting average.
The Peoria Chiefs lost for the first time at home, dropping a 4-3 decision to Clinton. Trey McNut gave up one run on three hits over four innings, and now has a 1.57 ERA. Richard Jones homered for the second consecutive game.
