5/4 Slight change in rotation
The Cubs considered giving Carlos Silva a cortisone injection in his right wrist but decided not to do so, and the right-hander will stay on regular rest and pitch Friday in Cincinnati. If Silva received the shot, he was going to get an extra day and not start until Saturday. Now, he’s set to go Friday and Tom Gorzelanny will go Saturday against the Reds. Ryan Dempster, who was starting Monday, will go Sunday.
“It doesn’t bother [Silva] when he throws, but it bothers him when he swings the bat,” Lou Piniella said of Silva, who injured his wrist April 21 in New York during an at-bat.
