5/12 The good, the bad & the ugly

The good: Mike Fontenot hit a two-run double in the second inning. The bad & ugly: With Fontenot’s error in the first Wednesday, the Cubs now have committed at least one miscue in seven straight games. That’s the most since another seven-game span, July 21-28, 2007.

He has been acting very professional about being benched through no fault of his own, but he may be very shaken up . He committed only one error as a regular, and has two since being benched. He said he wouldn’t sulk, and he is keeping his word, but maybe Lou needs to sit down with him, draw him out about how insecure he feels, and give him some reassurance. We are all hoping his reduced pplaying time is not permanent.
