5/16 Minor matters
Mitch Atkins threw five scoreless innings to help Iowa beat Reno, 11-1. Atkins now is 3-1 with a 2.16 ERA. Welington Castillo hit his fifth homer and Chad Tracy posted his third four-hit game. He’s hitting .607 with four doubles and eight RBIs in six games with Iowa.
Austin Bibens-Dirkx gave up one run, unearned, on two hits over six innings in Tennessee’s 8-2 win over Huntsville. Blake Lalli hit a two-run homer in the first. Steve Clevenger had three hits and three RBIs.
Daytona made four errors in a 6-2 loss to Brevard County. DJ LeMahieu extended his hitting streak to five games with two hits, and is batting .300 in his streak. Kyler Burke posted his sixth multi-hit game of the year. Brett Jackson, the Cubs’ No. 1 Draft pick last year, is sidelined with a foot injury.
Hak-Ju Lee had his 11th multi-hit game of the year but it wasn’t enough as Peoria lost 4-0 to Burlington. Lee has hit safely in five of his last six games.
