5/19 Minor matters
Thomas Diamond improved to 3-0 with a win in Iowa’s 6-1 win over Reno on Tuesday. Diamond gave up one run on three hits over six innings and struck out six. Sam Fuld notched his third three-hit game of the year, hitting a double and triple. Brad Snyder had three hits.
Hung-Wen Chen gave up two runs on two hits but took the loss in Tennessee’s 2-1 loss to Huntsville. He also hit a double. On Wednesday, Huntsville beat Tennessee, 11-3. Russ Canzler hit his second homer of the season, a solo shot, and Ty Wright also hit a solo homer.
Chris Archer struck out 10 and gave up one run on two hits over six innings to help Dayonta beat St. Lucie, 4-1. Rebel Ridling extended his hitting streak to three games and drove in two runs.
The Peoria Chiefs were handed their worst loss since 2006 when Wisconsin beat them, 14-1. Rob Whitenack gave up 10 runs (nine earned) on 11 hits over 3 2/3 innings. Nelson Perez had the Chiefs’ only hit, a RBI double.

question came up the other day after seeing the lovely lindsay vonn throw out the first pitch. why does james russell catch all of the celebs’ pitches?? seems like it would be a veteran’s perk to do so, not a rook.
