6/4 Minor matters
Iowa scored two runs in the seventh to beat Round Rock 4-3 in the first game of a makeup doubleheader Thursday. Brad Snyder had two hits, including his eighth home run. John Gaub picked up the win in relief. In the second game, Thomas Diamond gave up four runs on four hits and three walks over four innings in a 5-3 loss. Diamond did strike out seven. Bryan LaHair hit his fifth homer and Micah Hoffpauir had two hits.
Chris Carpenter gave up two runs on eight hits over six innings in Tennessee’s 5-2 win over Birmingham. Russ Canzler had four hits and scored two runs.
Chris Archer gave up one run on four hits over five innings and struck out six to help Daytona beat Charlotte, 6-3. Smaily Borges hit his third homer of the season and also hit a double.
Rob Whitenack gave up four runs on six hits over five innings in Peoria’s 10-4 loss to South Bend. Matt Cerda had four hits and two RBIs. Jae-Hoon Ha had two hits, and has hit safely in six of seven games since joining the Chiefs.
