6/11 The 300 club
Alfonso Soriano became the 127th Major League player to hit 300 home runs, launching his milestone blast in the second inning Friday. He connected on a 1-2 pitch from White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy with one on in the second to tie the Interleague game at 2. It was Soriano’s 10th homer this season and first since May 23.
He joins teammate Derrek Lee, who hit his 300th home run on Wednesday in Milwaukee. Lee became the seventh Cubs player to hit his 300 while with the team; Soriano is now the eighth. The list includes Sammy Sosa, Billy Williams, Ernie Banks, and Ron Santo.
