6/12 Extra bases: Cubs vs White Sox
Some notes from Saturday’s 2-1 loss to the White Sox:
* Marlon Byrd extended his hitting streak to a season-high nine games with a single in the fourth. It’s his longest streak since an 11-game stretch July 30-Aug. 9, 2009. He’s hitting .541 with seven multi-hit efforts during the stretch.
* Jeff Baker is a career .296 hitter in the No. 2 spot in the order.
* Tyler Colvin is 2-for-2 with a double as a pinch-hitter in the last two games.
* The Cubs stranded 10 in the game and now are 5-for-37 with runners in scoring position in the last five games.
* Starlin Castro is 5-for-34 (.211) in June. “I’ve got to make adjustments,” Castro said.

Thank God for Marlon Byrd and Carlos Silva this year or I’d go crazy.
