6/23 Cubs to honor Santo

On Monday, the Cubs will recognize former player and current broadcaster Ron Santo in honor of his 50 years of service to Major League Baseball. Santo made his MLB debut June 26, 1960, with the Cubs and played 14 seasons as the team’s third baseman. On Monday, the Cubs will have a special pregame ceremony before their game against the Pirates.

Flags honoring his 50 years in baseball will fly from Wrigley Field’s roof starting Monday. To help fans celebrate with Santo, the Cubs are offering a limited allotment of $10 bleacher seats throughout the team’s next homestand against Pittsburgh and Cincinnati, Monday through July 4. Fans can purchase these tickets by entering the promo code “SANTO” when purchasing bleacher tickets on Cubs.com.

THANKYOU FOR SOMETHING TO CHEER ABOUT A RON SANTO DAY BECAUSE THIS TEAM HAS NOT GIVING LONG TIME CUBS FAN SOMETHING TO CHEER ABOUT THEY RATE AS ONE OF THE WORST TEAM IN MY FIFTY YEARS OF BEING A CUBS FAN THEIR PLAY IS SOMETHING AWFUL THIS IS AVERYSELFISH TEAM NO ONE WANTS TOGIVE HIS SELF UP FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE TEAM EVERY BODY WANT TO BE THE HERO INSTEARD OF SETTING THE TABLE FOR THE NEXT HITTERTHEY CANNOT WIN LIKE THEY ARE PLAYING SO LET START TALKING ABOUT NEXT YEAR BECAUSE THIS SEASON IS OVER HEY JOEYDAFISH WHAT ON YOUR MIND

Back in the 60’s, Ron Santo was my favorite Cubs player. What a great 3rd baseman. One could actually say that I had a “crush” on him. I remember when he got hit in the face with a ball during a game and I started to cry. Wow…seems like just yesterday! My family would tell me that I wasn’t a Cubs fan but I was a Ron Santo fan. Maybe they were right but some things just never change for I am still at 63, a Cubs (Ron Santo) Fan!!! Happy 50 years of great service to the Chicago Cubs Ron and I still think you are the best that has ever been on the Chciago Cubs. I remember Ron Santo day a few years back, now to honor your 50 years and next…Hall of Fame!

A great reason to celebrate a great clubman.

I think we are a little overcritical of the team as a whole. Byrd and Colvin have done whatever has been asked of them with a smile on their face, and nobody can doubt the endeavours of Dempster, Silva and Lilly.

In the case of the 3 pitchers they are best No.2s in the rotation (when on top form), but for many teams would be 3s and 4s. It is not they who have overpaid and overstated their worth, it is Hendry.

thanks Ron…. you were a great Cub and still are… Very entertaining to listen to… But we are now 9 games out…. time to make big changes… Wells need to be sent to the pen and bring Gorzellany back to the rotation… Time to dump one of our outfielders and get some help SOMEWHERE!! We suck at every aspect of the game right now and need to pull our heads out of you know what… management on down to the starting lineup… this is a bunch of crap!!

“They” should bring back the Ron Santo mini pizzas at least for the one day. ROMAN-here’s what I must wonder: If one KNEW in advance that sweeping the Whitesox this upcoming series would mean much satisfaction BUT also the assurrance of Hendry keeping his job vs. getting SWEPT BY THE SOX assurring Hendry being let go….what would one hope for? Go Sox!!! (oohhh, that still hurts to type, but has to be done)

I’m with you Joey – I’ve noever shouted against the Cubs, but now it is self preservation time.

We need rid of Hendry and Piniella fast – though not to be replaced by Trammell please.

NO Trammell, if not Sandberg then Brenly or Girardi? Hell maybe the NEW GM may have somebody in mind that would
make sense?? Ahhhhh…”The NEW GM”….boy that has a nice ring to it.
