7/2 Dempster: "We have to execute better"
Saturday marks the halfway point of the season. What can the Cubs do to turn things around?
“We’re not executing enough, whether it’s pitching or hitting or playing defense, or whatever it is,” Ryan Dempster said. “We have to do a better job executing when we’re out there and hopefully the second half is better than the first half.”
Dempster had a weird line. He gave up five runs (two earned) on two hits and five walks while striking out nine. The nine Ks matched his season high and in one stretch, he retired 12 in a row. Then the awful seventh when the Reds scored nine runs on three hits, six walks and an error.
“What could’ve been a good day turned into a terrible one,” Dempster said.

The way that the Chicago Cubs are playing I wouldnt be shocked if Jim Hendry calls up Sammy Sosas phone and asks him to return to the Cubs. At least then maybe we could at least get some runs. This is embarassing. Im joking about Sosa. But I think the Cubs will be trading some people. Its just frustrating. Lets get it together boys.
