7/7 Bravo to Wayne Messmer
Congrats to Wayne Messmer, the gifted national anthem singer for many Cubs home games. Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the oldest and largest music fraternity for men, has recognized Messmer as a Signature Sinfonian. The award recognizes alumni members who have achieved a high standard of accomplishment in their field or profession. Messmer is one of four members in the 2010 class of inductees.

I detest hearing our national anthem butchered by pop singers who can’t hit a note without “scooping” it, or feel the need to inflict on the audience their personal interpretation of the piece. With Mr. Messmer that is NEVER the case. Congratulations on the honor. You honor your audience and our nation with your work.
