7/9 Silva questionable for Sunday
Carlos Silva is questionable for Sunday’s start because of some discomfort in the back of his right leg in his calf. Silva had a throw session on Friday and Lou Piniella called it “so so.” Silva will work with the training staff and see how he feels on Saturday.
“I would categorize him as questionable,” Piniella said.
If Silva can’t go, rookie Mitch Atkins would be slotted into the spot. There’s been no talk of Silva going on the DL. The Cubs feel the All-Star break will give him enough time to heal.
“Let’s see how he feels [Saturday] and we’ll have a more definite answer,” Piniella said.
