7/10 Lou tossed

Lou Piniella was ejected by first base umpire Jerry Layne for arguing a call between innings after the Dodgers’ fifth. It’s the first time Piniella has been tossed this season, and first time since Aug. 9, 2009.

Layne called Xavier Paul safe on an infield hit to open the Dodgers’ fifth, although the replays showed that pitcher Tom Gorzelanny stepped on the bag ahead of Paul. Piniella had gone onto the field and argued with Layne at that time. Paul eventually scored on a single by Andre Ethier.

After the Dodgers’ fifth ended, Piniella walked out to talk to Layne again, and the Cubs manager was then tossed.

Lou needs anger management therapy.

hey carrie, this is the first time i’ve checked here in over a month, but i’m glad to see some fire from lou….every time i catch a replay (i told you i’ve stopped watching) on espn or wherever it looks like he’s either dying or sleeping. either way, nice to see some fire from him. we still have a long way to go but i’ve noticed ramy has caught on a bit in recent week(s). hopefully they can put a late summer run together and actually become relevant for a day or two. would be fun to see again.
talk to you soon,
steve L. (write me anytime, i’d love to hear from you – slehrm on twitter.
