7/11 Minor matters
Jay Jackson threw six scoreless innings, striking out five, in Iowa’s 4-2 win over New Orleans on Saturday. Jim Adduci and Darwin Barney each had two hits. Jackson now has given up three or fewer runs in five of his nine starts since returning to the rotation.
Chris Carpenter gave up three runs, two earned, on six hits over five innings in Tennessee’s 11-3 win over Jacksonville. Carpenter struck out eight and now is 7-4 with a 3.19 ERA. Brandon Guyer had four hits, including two doubles. Blake Lalli homered in an eight-run fifth inning.
Michael Brenly extended his hitting streak to 11 games in Daytona’s 5-0 loss to Clearwater. Brenly is batting .463 in that stretch with five doubles and 13 RBIs. Brooks Raley took the loss, giving up four runs on seven hits over six innings.
Ryan Searle gave up five runs on six hits over five innings in Peoria’s 6-5 loss to Cedar Rapids. Matt Cerda had three hits, including two doubles.
George Matheus had three hits in Boise’s 6-5, 10-inning win over Eugene. Vismeldy Bieneme had two hits in Mesa’s 9-0 loss to the Giants.
