Iowa’s Darwin Barney and Thomas Diamond will participate in the Triple-A Iowa All-Star Game Wednesday in Allentown, Pa.
On Monday, the Tennessee Smokies helped the North team defeated the South, 3-2 in the Double-A All-Star Game. Robinson Chirinos hit a RBI single in the second and Blake Lalli also drove in a run. In the fifth, Tony Campana scored what proved to be the game-winning run on a two-out single.
Dae-Eun Rhee gave up one run on four hits over five innings in Daytona’s 5-1 loss to Clearwater. Kyler Burke drove in the only run with a RBI double.
The Peoria Chiefs were no-hit by Cedar Rapids in a 10-0, five-inning, rain-shortened game. Robert Whitenack gave up four runs on six hits over 3 2/3 innings and took the loss. It’s the first time the Chiefs have been no-hit since Aug. 7, 2008, by Burlington. The Chiefs were scheduled to play a doubleheader Monday but rain forced postponment of the second game.
Eric Jokisch gave up two runs on three hits over three innings in Boise’s 8-5 loss to Eugene. Pierre LePage, Elliot Soto and Christopher Huseby each had two hits.
Ryan Cuneo hit his second homer of the season in Mesa’s 11-5 win over the Dodgers. Xavier Batista had four hits and one RBI.
