7/29 Lilly rumors

A New York Mets official told the New York Post on Thursday it’s “very doubtful” they’ll get Ted Lilly by the trading deadline because they do not want to take on most of the $4.37 million still owed the lefty and give up prospects. The Dodgers and Twins are still believed to be talking to the Cubs about Lilly.

I believe to trade Ted Lilly would be just about the dumbest thing we can do right now. This season may be virtually over for the Cubs – but we need to hang on to the best we have, and one of those is Ted Lilly. But gee – we didn’t hang on to Mark DeRosa either – which just goes to show we have a history of making stupid mistakes. How about turning that around before we worry about anything else – let’s start making smart decisions for a change!
