8/1 Minor matters
Bryan LaHair hit three home runs and drove in seven in Iowa’s 15-7 victory over Oklahoma City on Saturday. Jeff Samardzija gave up six runs on five hits and three walks over five innings and picked up the win. He’s now 8-1 with a 3.23 ERA. This is the second time this year LaHair has driven in at least six runs in a game.
Chris Archer’s scoreless inning streak is over. He gave up three hits and walked four over five innings in Tennessee’s 9-1 win over West Tenn. Archer struck out six. He is now 5-1 with a 0.27 ERA. Robinson Chirinos and Russ Canzler each homered for the Smokies. Chirinos drove in three runs. Brett Jackson had three hits and one RBI.
Ryan Flaherty hit two home runs, including a three-run walkoff blast in the 10th, to help Daytona win its 13th in a row, a 6-4 victory over Palm Beach. Trey McNutt picked up the win, striking out seven over five scoreless innings.
Luis Flores hit his fourth home run in Peoria’s 7-0 victory over Beloit. Jae-Hoon Ha had two hits and three RBIs. Su-Min Jung threw four scoreless innings in relief for the win. He struck out eight.
Boise beat Vancouver, 5-4, in 12 innings. The Hawks scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. Alvaro Ramirez had three hits and one RBI.
