8/9 Minor matters
Micah Hoffpauir had four hits including his 20th home run and drove in three runs to lead Iowa to a 9-6 victory over Portland on Sunday. Hoffpauir extended his hitting streak to a PCL-high 17 games. He’s batting .414 in that stretch with 24 RBIs. Matt Camp hit his first homer of the season and Chris Robinson drove in three runs.
Chris Rusin gave up two runs on eight hits over six innings in Tennessee’s 13-3 win over Huntsville. Rusin struck out four and got plenty of help as Brandon Guyer, Brett Jackson and Tony Thomas each homered. Guyer had three hits and three RBIs, Thomas had two hits and three RBIs, and Jackson had two hits and one RBI.
Daytona had Sunday off.
Ryan Searle threw 6 2/3 shutout innings to help Peoria beat Quad Cities, 4-0. Searle struck out eight and gave up three hits. Brandon May had two hits and scored a run.
Dustin Fitzgerald gave up six runs on nine hits in two innings in Boise’s 15-4 loss to
Everett. Ryan Cuneo hit his first home run and Alvaro Ramirez extended his hitting streak to 12 games. Boise manager Jody Davis was suspended for six games by the Northwest League for refusing to send his players back on the field after a rain delay Saturday. Hitting coach Ricardo Medina is filling in as interim manager.
Luis Liria gave up one run on three hits over five innings in Mesa’s 10-2 win over the Padres. Mesa totaled 14 hits, including three by Pin-Chieh Chen.
